Don’t Skimp on these!

Here are 8 things you should be sure that you do not skimp on during tough or uncertain economic times.

1. Giving (acknowledging God’s provision in this way really does bring peace…plus your giving is an invitation for God to be involved in your finances!)

2.Mortgage payment and property taxes.

3. Utilities

4. Car maintenance

5. Health insurance

6. Fun times with your spouse & kids! (Just look for the many free or low cost options available. There are also plenty of great deals right now.)

7. Patience and long-term vision (Keep hope alive! It gives your faith something to work with.)

8. Bible reading and prayer

…and may I encourage you to do one more thing…Save! A little here and a little there and you are creating margin in your finances!

Here’s some great Bible promises!

Ps 73:23-26
23 Yet I still belong to you;
you are holding my right hand.
24 You will keep on guiding me with your counsel,
leading me to a glorious destiny.
25 Whom have I in heaven but you?
I desire you more than anything on earth.
26 My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak,
but God remains the strength of my heart;
he is mine forever.
NLT

Hab 3:17-19
17 Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vine; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, 18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation. 19 The Sovereign LORD is my strength! He will make me as surefooted as a deer and bring me safely over the mountains.
NLT

Matt 6:31-33
31 “So don’t worry about having enough food or drink or clothing.  32 Why be like the pagans who are so deeply concerned about these things? Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs,  33 and he will give you all you need from day to day if you live for him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern.
NLT

2 Cor 4:16-18
16 That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. 17 For our present troubles are quite small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us an immeasurably great glory that will last forever! 18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see right now; rather, we look forward to what we have not yet seen. For the troubles we see will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever.
NLT

Phil 4:6-7
6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
NLT

Heb 13:5
5 Stay away from the love of money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said,
“I will never fail you.
I will never forsake you.”

Don’t miss a minute!

This Sunday we will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Meadowbrook Church!!!

I have been thinking a lot about how faithful and good God has been to us! So I think that it is only right that we celebrate!

I don’t think that we are to celebrate us or build some kind of monument, or as Peter wanted to build a tabernacle. But it is fitting to certainly mark this milestone and we will major on this being a great time of ministry!

We have a super special service planned and it starts out special from the very first minute of the service…so don’t be late…don’t miss a minute!

Bring someone with you and come expecting! In addition to all the special music, videos, etc., I will be completing the series “Finding Peace on Earth”.  This message is so important and it is one of the overarching purposes of Meadowbrook.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Grace & peace!

Can’t we all just get along?

Realizing that the New Testament is largely about how we treat one another, every so often we must remind ourselves of a few guidelines.

These 10 Rules for Getting Along with People were written by the late, great Norman Vincent Peale.

1. Remember their names.

2. Be comfortable to be with. Don’t cause strain in others.

3. Try not to let things bother you. Be easygoing.

4. Don’t be egotistical or know-it-all.

5. Learn to be interesting so that people will get something stimulating from being with you.

6. Eliminate the “scratchy” elements in your personality, traits that can irritate others.

7. Never miss a chance to offer support or say “Congratulations.”

8. Work at liking people. Eventually you’ll like them naturally.

9. Honestly try to heal misunderstandings and drain off grievances.

10. Develop spiritual depth in yourself and share this strength with others.

Alright now, be nice out there! Remember Who you represent and Who you are living for!
