Leave It To God

Can’t seem to get where you want to go fast enough? Leave it to God.

Worried about the kids? Leave it to God.

Living in a place you’d rather not be? Leave it to God.

Looks like you won’t graduate with honors? Leave it to God.

No matter how hard you try, your life’s partner simply is not responding? Leave it to God.

Found a lump and you see the doctor tomorrow? Leave it to God.

You’ve said the right words to that friend who is lost, and you’ve been all you know to be? Leave it to God.

Haven’t got a date to the prom? Leave it to God.

A midcareer change seems scary? Leave it to God.

You did a job, and someone else got the credit? Leave it to God.

Getting older alone? Leave it to God.

Sometimes the Next Step is to Step Away

There’s nothing that is locked, that God can’t unlock or show you the key. The answers don’t always come right away.  In James 1:2-8 in the New Living Translation it says, My dear brothers and sisters, whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy.  For when your faith is tested your endurance has a chance to grow.” There are times that we have to endure what we don’t enjoy.  Your endurance needs a chance to grow.  So let it grow. For when your endurance is fully developed you will be strong in character and ready for anything. If you need wisdom, if you want to know what God wants you to do, ask Him and He will gladly tell you. He will not resent your asking.  But when you ask Him, be sure that you really expect Him to answer. For a doubtful mind is unsettled, is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.” People like that should not expect to receive anything from the Lord, they can’t make up their minds, they waver back and forth in everything they do.”

If you have something nagging at you, and you don’t have the solution for it, ask God to show you what He wants you to do and ask in faith.  Sometimes my wife, or staff, or whoever, will ask a question that I don’t have the answer to, and do you know what I say to them?  “I don’t know, but I will know.”  Why?  Because I believe that if we ask Him, according to His Word like we just read, He will tell us!  He’s just looking for people that want to know what He wants them to know!  He’s happy about people like that!  He’s doesn’t resent that a bit.  He’s glad to let you in on what He wants you to do.

Sometimes the next step is just to step away. There are times when you’re trying to find a solution or direction on what to do about something, and it’s a worrisome process.  The next step may be just to step away; take a break.  Don’t run away― Don’t give up―Just step away.  And as you step away, God will refresh you.  As you step away, your emotions tend to clear out.  Step away and do other things besides worry.  Step away and do what I call normalize. And what that means is this:  If it’s time to eat, go eat.  If it’s time to sleep, go to sleep.  If it’s time to play with the kids, play with the kids.  You must normalize your life.  You don’t have to stop life to do this.  As you’re trying to get that answer,  sometimes the next step is just to step away.  It’s amazing! You’ll be doing something totally unrelated to your problem, and all of a sudden…you’ve got mail! And there it is!!  Then you can run back to God, and He’ll confirm it in His Word, He’ll confirm it with peace in your spirit, and you’ll know what to do!

Then, you’ll need to create an action plan.  That is simply this: What are the specific actions you need to take?  Then do it!  Sometimes part of the action plan is that you’ might need to change something about you. This still requires that you trust God, and know that He is your strength, He is your wisdom, and that He gives you favor.  There’s nothing that He cannot do; nothing that He cannot help; nothing that He cannot fix.  Think about this for a moment.  Together…you and God…you’ll get through it.  Again, “There’s nothing that is locked, that God can’t unlock, or show you the key.”  Either way, it’s God helping you.  And that’s why I can say with total confidence…“You will get through it!”

Character & Conduct

I believe that God is more interested in your character than your conduct. Jesus said that you would know people, or could learn alot about someone by their fruit…or conduct. Conduct is important. But we must realize that conduct is fruit. It is the product on the outside of what is on the inside.  We must give time and attention to the development of our inner man and a personal relationship with God and His Word. Time alone, Bible open in our laps…hearts seeking God!

E.M. Bounds, theologian and author of some great works on the subject of prayer, compiled the following.

Conduct is what we do.

Character is what we are.

Conduct is the outward life.

Character is the life unseen, hidden  within, yet evidenced by that which is seen.

Conduct is external, seen from without.

Character is internal – operating within.

Character is the state of the heart.

Conduct is it outward expression.

Character is the root of the tree.

Conduct, the fruit it bears.

Got baggage? …drop it!

Here’s a great video from Craig Groeshel…powerful…doable!

I truly think that everyone has or has had some baggage. Drop it and let God help you! Then, as you continue to live life and walk with God, be careful that you don’t take on baggage again.

Psalm 55:22a in the Amplified Bible says, “Cast your burden on the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and He will sustain you.”
