Think about these!

We had a great day yesterday at Meadowbrook! If you missed it, be sure to watch it on the archives.

I started a new series entitled “Nobody’s Fool”. It’s pretty important information and the Scripture places great emphasis on this subject…too much so for us to take it lightly!

However, here a few “lighter” things to think about. I shared some of these yesterday and many of you had asked for them.

Only in America ….do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.

Only in America …..do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a diet coke.

Only in America …..do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens to the counters.

Only in America …..do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.

Only in America……do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight.

Only in America …..do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering.

Only in America…do we drive on parkways and park in driveways.

EVER WONDER ..

Why the sun lightens our hair, but darkens
our skin?

Why women can’t put on mascara with their mouth closed?

Why don’t you ever see the headline ‘Psychic Wins Lottery’?

Why is ‘abbreviated’ such a long word?

Why is it that doctors call what they do ‘practice’?

Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons?

Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?

Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?

Why isn’t there mouse-flavored cat food?

Why didn’t Noah swat those two mosquitoes?

Why do they sterilize the needle for lethal injections?

You know that indestructible black box that is used on airplanes? Why don’t they make the whole plane out of that stuff?!

Why don’t sheep shrink when it rains?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of progress?

If flying is so safe,  why do they call the airport the terminal?

My son gets married this Friday, so this is a big week for our family!

Have an awesome day!

Grace & peace!

It made me laugh!

This made me laugh…enjoy!

We had an awesome service last night as we studied from the book of Philippians. What a loaded book and the Apostle Paul,…what an example!

He had such a union with Christ, that he knew that whatever happened in life, that union would stay in tact. And if he died, or were executed (in his case), the union would only be more complete. His bottom line was he just wanted to honor Christ! …in life or in death!

He said the same thing in 2 Corinthians 5:8-9 where it reads,”We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. 9 Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him.”

The last part of verse 9 sounds like this from the Message Bible, “Cheerfully pleasing God is the main thing, and that’s what we aim to do, regardless of our conditions.”
Let it be your aim today to be pleasing to Him!

I pray you have a good one!

Let God Transform You

I hope your day is going well! Don’t forget that God is…almighty…all wise…good…and…you can trust Him!

As you face challenges or are just expressing gratitude to the Lord, tell Him, out loud, from your heart, “Lord, You are almighty, You are all wise, You are good and I trust You!”

I hope to see you at Meadowbrook tonight! We’re in a really great study of Philippians.

Here’s an excerpt from a devotional I read the other day…really good!

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

If we are to offer ourselves to God as living sacrifices (Rom. 12:1), we have a crucial role to play. We must choose to say “No” to the ways of the fallen world.

But that’s not the whole story. You will be able to discern and do God’s will only when you “let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.” The original Greek calls us to “be transformed,” not by our own efforts, but by the power of God.

The verb meaning “be transformed” utilizes a Greek mood that conveys an ongoing process. Transformation doesn’t happen automatically, once-and-for-all, when we first put our faith in Christ. Rather, it is a life-long process of opening ourselves to God’s renewing power.

Notice that God transforms you by “changing the way you think.” This renewed mind comes as you allow Scripture to teach you God’s truth. It comes as you reflect upon the Bible, using it as the basis for your daily prayers. A new mind comes when you gather with other believers to study the Word, to hear it proclaimed, and to experience it in the sacraments. Though we cannot transform ourselves, we can participate in that which opens our minds to the Spirit. As this happens, we will be able to know God’s will so that we might desire it and do it.

Seeking God

Erwin Mcmanus is a wonderful thinker, a true follower of Jesus and the lead pastor of a very unique church in L.A. called Mosaic. I love his heart, his message and his way of sharing the truths of Scripture. I sense him to be a true and humble listener who knows and shares the Father’s heart.

Take the time to watch this…you’ll be blessed!

We had an awesome morning at Meadowbrook today! Over 40 people made decisions for Jesus and I think we all enjoyed being the church today! If you missed it, go to www.mbcocala.com and check it out in the archives.

I pray that you have a wonderful week!

Grace & peace!

Why does this hurt so bad?

First of all…greetings! I’m sorry that I haven’t posted a blog for a few days. I had planned to take a few days and “slow down” a bit. But then…we had a very painful event.

I had cleared my schedule for Tuesday. Tuesday morning, I got up, a little later than normal. I woke my kids for school and started to tend to our pets. I found my boxer, Samson, “Sammy” in distress! He had caught his paw in his kennel door and was in full blown panic! I freed his foot but he had now gone into seizures. Joshua helped me, Alicia made calls and we then rushed him to the vet.

Long story short…because I really don’t feel up to sharing the long story right now…after 24 hours of doing everything, trying everything…we had to put our precious big dog to sleep.

We all hurt so bad. I know that this is “just an animal”, but this was “our animal”, part of our family. He was huge and beautiful, sweet and happy. Those of you who have gone through this will understand.

So why does this hurt so bad? Because it is love. Deep and genuine. Total unconditional love. You bring home a pet, and you immediately give them your heart. Then over time, day after day of interacting, caring, tending, correcting, playing,…love grows into something massive and strong, precious and sweet. Then when you find that the object of that love is now gone…it hurts so bad. There is reward, great reward in love. But sometimes, it really hurts too.

There are a truckload of truths and parallels to all this. So we keep on loving and remembering. Only now, we only have our memories to love and not our big dog Sammy.

In case you haven’t heard me teach on this lately, life is a continuous cycle of crisis and process. God and time are our healers. Wow…make everything count today. Don’t take things for granted. Try hard. Work hard. Laugh hard. Walk close with God. Be good to one another…and your pets!

Grace & peace!
