10 ways to save money

In these days, one of the ways to make more money, so to speak, is to save more money. This article is from Crown Financial, a great Christian organization helping people to get their financial act together.

Ten Ways to Save Money

It’s the question / statement we all want to pose…at sometime…to someone. But, of greater value is to pose that question to ourselves. Or better yet, let Jesus Himself pose it to us! He did just that in Matthew 22:29. First from the New Living Translation, “Matt 22:29, “Jesus replied, “Your problem is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God.”

And then I love it from the Message Bible, “Jesus answered, “You’re off base on two counts: You don’t know your Bibles, and you don’t know how God works.”

To apply this, our greatest need is spiritual growth! And knowing God’s word and His power how He works are the constant ingredients in the life of a growing Christian.

Paul, in the context of straining forward, making progress and reaching the goal said that knowing God, in this way, was his determined purpose.

Take your time and read it here from Philippians 3:10 in the Amplified Bible.
[For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope]

We know what our problem is. And we know what our answer is. Let’s go grow in Him! And He will meet us there in the smallest of efforts to help us in our spiritual growth. Again, it’s not about works, but some effort, some desire, some sign of life on our part is required.

Go back and read my blog from January 27th. You’ll find the whole idea of First and Final Fifteen helpful in this endeavor.

We’re still called Disciples!

Read this passage from Matthew 7:13-14. It’s from the Message Bible. (Which I highly recommend as a reading Bible!)

13) “Don’t look for shortcuts to God. The market is flooded with surefire, easygoing formulas for a successful life that can be practiced in your spare time. Don’t fall for that stuff, even though crowds of people do. 14) The way to life — to God! — is vigorous and requires total attention.

Don’t miss that first phrase… “Don’t look for shortcuts to God.” Although He has made the way and He is the way, we must show some effort. It’s been said that, “We can’t do His part and He won’t do our part.” He is the “Helper” and we are the “Doers.”

By definition and by inference, a disciple, which we are called to be, is a disciplined learner or follower.

Let me encourage you to put out the effort, to go after God!

Jeremiah 29:13 says, “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” (NKJV)

Deuteronomy 4:29 states, “But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul. (NKJV)

2 Chronicles 31:21 adds, “And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, in the law and in the commandment, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart. So he prospered.” (NKJV)

Obviously, some effort is involved! So go for it! Press into God! Set apart time with God…and make it count!

Too many people start to spend time with God and never get through the “veil” of the flesh or the emotions. Then there are all the other obstacles…time, hunger, chores, you name it!

Seeking and finding God is your answer to anything and everything! He is all you need and what you find in His presence is so worth the effort!
